Innovation Achievements

BAIC BJEV has been centered around developing battery, motor and electric control technology, and has gone through three generations of technology upgrade in the last ten years. It has overcome the technological problem of improving the utilization ratio of battery power under high security design standard. In order to speed up the product iteration, the company has created a modular matrix platform of battery, motor and electric control in addition to a synergetic verification system of battery, motor and electric control. The overall technical level of the project is internationally advanced, and the three technical indexes of driving mileage per kilowatt, energy recovery rate of the vehicle and NEDC working efficiency of the electric drive assembly are cutting-edge internationally. This project has boosted the total sales volume of BAIC's new energy pure electric vehicle models to over 500,000, brought revenue to a number of domestic battery and motor enterprises, driven the technological progress and supply chain optimization of the industry, and made an important contribution to the popularization and application of electric vehicles in China.

Binzhou Bohai Piston Co., Ltd., has carried out innovative design on the cooling structure and secondary pouring process system of molds after nearly three years of research and development in order to solve the problem that traditional cast aluminum pistons are prone to fatigue failure and cracking when the engine burst pressure reaches or exceeds 20MPa,In order to control the internal cooling parameters of each unit, the fuzzy theory was applied. Besides, the piston pouring system was refined, which successfully solved the above problems, improved the performance of pistons, and widened the application of cast aluminum pistons in engines with high power density and high reliability requirements.
This achievement won the third prize of Science and Technology Progress Award of China Automobile Industry, 2020.

As Chinese government policy favors new energy buses, fuel cell buses with its unique advantages have gradually gain recognition by the industry, and achieved rapid development of operation in the regions such as the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei, Yangtze River Delta and Pearl River Delta. However, the industry has not established a standard that can adapt to the current technical level of fuel cell bus application, and this standard fills the gap of main technical content in the industry. The standard is led by BAIC Foton Motor Co., Ltd. in its compiling, participated by more than 20 vehicle enterprises and testing units in the industry, and issued by the Ministry of Transport, PRC.

Beiqi Foton Motor Co., Ltd. and its partners--Tsinghua University and Ehuatong have conducted long-term research on key issues of fuel cell buses such as economic efficiency, durability and adaptability to extreme cold environment. Many innovative achievements have been made in the key technologies of high-power fuel cell engine design, balanced energy management frequency divisions and coordinated water management at different levels, cold start in extremely cold environment and integrated thermal management of the whole vehicle. The overall technology level has reached the world leading level, and the fuel economic efficiency of the vehicle has reached the world leading level. The achievement has the longest application time in China, the largest amount and significant economic and social benefits.

BAIC BJEV, together with its partner Shanghai Electric Bus, have overcome the problems in battery swap technology, such as vehicle manufacturing consistency, fault tolerance of battery assembly, and safety and reliability of connection. They have innovatively developed high-compatibility and high-security rapid battery swap technology, standard communication floating connection port, multi-mode control integration technology, intelligent green scheduling technology for battery swap and other core technologies. They have achieved 166s rapid battery replacement and improved the safety and reliability of the battery swap vehicles with world leading technologies. The battery swap technology provides an effective path for the electrification of state-operated vehicles.

Light trucks are the main vehicle of road freight in China. There are many problems such as high fuel consumption, poor reliability and low safety. BAIC Foton Motor Co., Ltd. has made major technical breakthroughs in vehicle efficiency and energy saving, vehicle structure reliability, safety improvement, engineering capability and intelligent coordinated control application through key technology research. The first batch of models were launched in 2016, which topped Chinese market sales for three consecutive years, breaking the monopoly of imported Japanese high-end light trucks in the market.

BJ80 light off-road vehicle project includes a number of technical innovations such as high reliability, high comfort and high expanding ability of the whole vehicle. Comparing with other competing vehicles, BJ80 has better performance in vehicle passability, smoothness, operational stability and NVH performance. Its vehicle reliability index is world leading among similar products. BJ80 series models have been fully recognized and widely recognized by the market and users.
This achievement won the first prize of Science and Technology Progress Award of China Automobile Industry in 2018 and the first prize of Beijing Science and Technology Progress Award 2020.

Integrated in-depth research has been done on source transformation and five core systems of the high voltage distribution system for vehicles. Key problems have been solved, such as strong coupling design for machine - electric - thermal - magnetic physical field, high-speed data interaction and coordinated control among multiple control units, and efficient manufacturing of high-voltage integrated systems. A high-performance integrated control system under the same electrical and control architecture integrating the five core functions above has been developed. The overall technology of the project is leading in China, and the equivalent power density is world leading.

Aiming at A00 class pure electric vehicle market, BAIC BJEV has carried out new positive development of EC series models. A new look, a new structure and a new system of battery, motor and electric control have been developed. A new chassis and vehicle platform adapted to the characteristics of pure electric drive has been built. A battery product with high energy density and high safety suitable for all Chinese climates has been developed. The energy density of the system reached 135.6Wh/kg, higher than the average level of the same period. As of March 2018, the sales volume of EC series reached 100,000 units, making it the world's top seller of pure electric vehicles in 2017. A total of nearly 40,000 exclusive charging piles have been launched. 14,000 public charging piles have also been built, leading to the improvement of the public charging and battery swap environment.

BJ40 series light off-road vehicle is a new type of civil light off-road vehicle designed and developed by BAIC Group, which has excellent off-road performance, safety, reliability and comfort, filling the blank of development and production of hard off-road vehicles in domestic civil market. BJ40 series models have innovatively developed expandable professional off-road chassis and new turbocharged vertical gasoline engine, created highly safe wearable car body technology, and established an intelligent interconnected ecosystem of off-road vehicles. The main performance indicators of the vehicle are leading in China and the off-road performance is world leading.
This achievement won the first prize of Science and Technology Progress Award of China Automotive Industry in 2017 and the first prize of Beijing Science and Technology Progress Award in 2018.

Through introduction of electronic control system of car body, mathematical modeling and simulation software development, test development, rapid prototyping, automatic test system and platform development, development modes of car body electronic control system have been revolutionized, which greatly shortened the development cycle, reduced development costs and improved development efficiency. This method can ensure that design problems are found and modified at the initial stage of design.

Beijing Hyundai has been concerned about and actively promoted the in-car air quality evaluation standard work. In 2012, the project of in-vehicle air quality detection was officially launched. A more advanced, scientific and effective in-vehicle air quality detection system was innovatively established. The industry-leading VOC detection capability for vehicles and parts was achieved. An environmental chamber was built, which met a number of domestic and foreign testing standards. The vehicle VOC test project of Beijing Hyundai Technology Center has successfully obtained CNAS system certification. With the support of advanced testing capabilities and accurate test results, Beijing Hyundai provides data support for the revision of mandatory standards, which strongly promotes the development of in-car air quality evaluation.

BAIC BJEV, as the earliest vehicle enterprise distributing pure electric vehicles in China, has independently researched and developed the C30 platform for industrialization since 2010. After two generations of model development, EV200 has reached a maximum speed of 125km/h, 0-50km/h acceleration time of 4.7s, and continuous driving mileage of 200km under working conditions. The comprehensive performance is better than most pure electric models at home and abroad. The project set up and perfect the system of the electric vehicle design and development process and standards. It is cutting-edge in key techniques such as the vehicle design, system integration, powertrain, electromagnetic compatibility, high pressure safety and other industrialized processing techniques. It integrated key parts enterprises for new energy vehicles in Beijing, formed a R&D and supply system of spare parts with regional characteristics. It also promotes the construction of infrastructure, innovates in the development of new energy vehicle service system, and plays an important role in promoting the development and industrialization of pure electric vehicle technology in China.

Auman GTL is the fourth generation of new heavy truck series independently developed by BAIC Foton Motor Co., Ltd. The project was started in 2008 and SOP was realized in 2012. GTL project is the first in the industry in China to introduce reliability prevention statistical analysis tools, which established a systematic and scientific process of reliability durability design and verification. Through matching the world leading exclusive engine and efficient transmission system, coupled with intelligent control technology, its fuel consumption is lower than the domestic similar models by 3% ~ 5%; The frame-structure high-strength car body is verified by ECER29-03 collision safety regulations.
